The power adapter is a power supply conversion device for small portable electronic devices and electronic appliances. It is widely used, and its safety issues are also concerned by the regulatory agencies of various countries. According to statistics from the European Union's non-food product rapid warning system, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Canadian Ministry of Health, a total of 32 unqualified power adapters have been notified in my country this year, including 30 in the EU and 1 each in the United States and Canada.
It is reported that power adapters are usually purchased from outside parts, rather than produced by the manufacturer, and insufficient attention is paid to its safety performance. Because of problems with the adapter, foreign regulatory agencies often require the entire product involved to be recalled. This has caused huge losses to relevant export companies. According to the analysis by the staff of Kunshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the unqualified power adapter is mainly manifested in five aspects: first, the creepage distance between the main circuit and the secondary circuit of the adapter is not enough; second, the pin size of the product does not meet the standard requirements; third, the product The pins are too close to the outer flange of the product and are easily touched by the human body; fourth, the product shell has insufficient mechanical strength, and the plastic materials supporting live parts are not heat-resistant and flame-resistant; fifth, the plug pins are easy to separate from the device, and there is a risk of electric shock.
