The voltage-controllable power adapter is essentially a device with low output impedance. Because the output voltage and performance characteristics of any two or more devices cannot be exactly the same, when these devices are operated in parallel, they will not evenly share the load current.
Many methods can be used for forced current sharing, see Chapter 24 of Part One. However, in most cases, these technologies force current sharing by reducing the output impedance of the power adapter (thus also reducing the load regulation rate). One possible exception is the master-slave setup technique of voltage-controllable current sources. However, the master-slave setting technology is no longer favored, because it cannot provide redundant parallel operation, and the failure of the master module system often leads to the failure of the entire system.
Recently, the interconnection system of the current-type control topology of the in-line power adapter has shown considerable prospects. In theory, this technology is quite good, but the tendency to generate noise on the P-terminal connection between devices makes it a little difficult to implement. Moreover, if a device is used to provide a control signal, then the failure of the device will cause The entire system shuts down, and this also deviates from the requirements of a parallel redundant system.
The forced current sharing system designed in Chapter 24 of the first part is not restricted by these problems. Although the output regulation is poor, the change in output voltage is only a few millivolts in a general environment, which is acceptable for most practical applications.
If forced current sharing is not provided, then one or several power adapters will run in the maximum current limit mode, and the rest of the power adapters will run almost at no load. However, as long as the power adapter can work continuously in the current limit mode, this limit If the power supply has a reasonable service life, a simple direct parallel connection can also be used. This method should not be ignored.
