How to choose proper power adapter?For some people, the concept of power adapter is still charger, indeed the power adapter is a transformer, is used widely on charger. For those not familiar with power adapter, charge with what kind of adapter is a problem.
Considering there are a great diversity of power adapter, to charge randomly is not possible. We have to decide 3 adaptive conditions before choosing a proper power adapter.
Firstly, DC jack of the adapter must compliance with the equipment.
Secondly, output voltage of adapter should be same as the rated input voltage or within the voltage range of the equipment, otherwise, it perhaps burns the equipment.
Thirdly, output current of adapter should equal to or bigger than the current of the equipment, so to provide enough electric power.
Let’s analyze the above 3 adaptive conditions:
Firstly, do not insert with unmatched DC jack, for this may be dangerous.
Secondly, why need the matched voltage? Principally, a low voltage can not drive the load, so the battery can not charge normally. Commonly speak is demand exceeds supply.
Thirdly, why need the matched current? This relates to the principle of current. We all know that there is internal resistance of power supply, the more internal resistance, the much wastage. Therefore, while producing the adapter, the manufacturer will ensure the no load output voltage within a certain range according to internal resistance. The current critical value which voltage critical value corresponds to is current nominal value, the bigger current nominal value, the better load capacity. Choosing bigger current will not harm the battery, instead, it will charge faster.
