While current-mode control will relax many of the constraints of voltage-mode control, it also presents a number of design challenges. So there are new improvements in voltage mode now. Then these two improvements are mainly voltage feedforward and high frequency capability. The former is used to eliminate the effects of voltage changes, and the latter is used to place the output filter pole at the standard control loop bandwidth. out of range.
Voltage feedforward is achieved by making the slope of the ramp waveform proportional to the input voltage. This provides a corresponding and corrected duty cycle modulation without any action by the feedback loop. A constant control loop gain and transient response to input voltage changes are obtained.
